Robert Ray (Bob) Van Meter, age of 88, Branson, Missouri.
Robert Ray (Bob) Van Meter passed away on July 26, 2023 at his home in Branson at the age of 88. Bob was born in Kenesaw, Nebraska on May 8, 1935.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Deb L. Heimbuch (Bill Heimbuch) of North Platte, NE; Terri Burch (Tab Burch) of Lexington, NE; four grandchildren, Vanessa Silos, Spencer, Mitchell and Lucas Burch; three great-grandchildren, Serena Silos, Jeremiah Silos-Roy and Lincoln Burch. Bob is also survived by very close friends, Nona Robertson, Juanita & Charlie Johnson and Magdalena Johns.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Van Meter and Lottie Mae Swartz-Van Meter; brother and sister, Bill Van Meter, Aileen Otto; wife, Wilma Van Meter and two children, Cheryl Kay Van Meter and Burdette Van Meter.
Bob worked for Union Pacific Railroad from 1953 till his retirement in 1990 as a telegrapher. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. In 1991, Bob moved to Branson. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and worked at different Branson show theaters. Bob was a Mason for 50 years. He was very civic and community focused, volunteering with the Branson Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoyed time spent at the Branson Senior Center where he had many friends.
Bob’s life will be celebrated on Monday, July 31, 2023, with a memorial service at 4:00 PM in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson. He will be interred at a later date in North Platte, Nebraska.
