Nancy Mureil (Painter) Lopez, age 82, of Golden, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at her home.
She was born on January 5, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn E. and Frances (Mott) Painter, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her daughter, Rebecca Lopez; her siblings, Glenda, Donna, and Norman; and her stepmother, Zella.
Nancy is survived by her son, Joe Lopez of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two daughters, Michelle Lopez of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and Jennifer Lopez of Golden, Missouri; one brother, Dean Painter, and his wife, Betty, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, along with her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In her early years, Nancy spent time in the heartland of America, where she cultivated a strong work ethic and sense of community. After graduating from high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she embarked on a career as a heavy equipment operator. For a decade, her strength and determination shone through as she excelled in a field dominated by men.
Beyond her career, Nancy's love for the land was evident in her personal pursuits. She enjoyed farming and took great pride in raising dogs for her dog kennel. Her creativity flourished through her love of arts and crafts as she found joy in crocheting, etching, mirror work, and needlework. Nancy's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved her.
A celebration of life to honor Nancy will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at a family friend's home located at 22608 Farm Road 2260 in Golden, Missouri.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri.
