
Meredith Hutchins, 80, passed away on August 12, 2025.
Meredith (Sever) Rice Denney Hutchins was born on January 17, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri to Leonore Sever and Vernon Sever. She entered into rest on August 12, 2025 at her home in Branson surrounded by her beloved family.
Meredith was a proud graduate of Southeast High School in 1963, where she participated in Pep Club and Girls Glee. She was also active in Service Assembly Number 9 of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls as well as with Camp Fire with Lawrence. She began her working career at Hallmark Cards prior to marrying Lawrence Denney in 1970 and having their only child Julie born in 1972. Lawrence passed away unexpectedly in 1984. Meredith then began a career as a trusted employee of various Dairy Queen’s in the Kansas City and Harrisonville areas.
When Meredith was in high school, she had a sweetheart she dated, William Hutchins. William went off to serve in the military after high school, and they lost touch with each other. Forty-eight years later their love story continued as they were reconnected as widowers. A spark ignited and they were married on Valentine’s Day in 2012. Meredith relocated out of Belton, MO to Aurora, CO to be with William and in 2014 they moved to their home in Branson. They enjoyed twelve wonderful years of marriage together prior to his death on December 4, 2024.
Meredith was a very outgoing person and always stopped to talk with people, brightening their day and hers. She had made a lot of friends in her lifetime. She also enjoyed the popular show, The Haygoods, in Branson and was very close with the Haygood family, appreciating their talents and kindness. Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Leonore & Vernon Sever; and her husbands, Lawrence Denney and William Hutchins.
She is survived by one daughter Julie Denney of Branson, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and friends.
Visitation for Meredith will be Wednesday evening, August 20, 2025 beginning at 5:30 pm in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory; funeral services will follow at 6:30 pm in the funeral home. Meredith will be laid to rest with her husbands, Lawrence and William on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City at 11:00 am.
