James Ava “Jim” Cox, age 82, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri

               James Ava “Jim” Cox, age 82, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024.

            He was born June 27, 1941 in Douglas County, Missouri the son of James A. and Lorraine V. (Parker) Cox. In 1981 in Lecompton, Kansas he was united in marriage to Nancy G. Asher, who preceded him in death on August 2, 2023. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter; one stepson, Danny and one grandson, Kyle.

            Surviving are two stepdaughters, Deborah McHugh of Linwood, Kansas and Dodi David of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

            Jim attended school in Mountain Grove, Missouri graduating from Mountain Grove High School in 1957. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1958 until 1961 as an electrical technician. He was a self-employed master mechanic and was also employed by General Motors and Freeman Automotive. Jim had lived in Rocky Comfort for 24 years after moving from Baldwin, Kansas. Some of his favorite pastimes were computers and developing software. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, planting a big garden, fishing, hunting and showing his hunting dogs. 

            No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
