Charles Robert Willis, age 94, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away November 10, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri. He entered this life February 4, 1930, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Walter and Doris (DesCombes) Willis. He was joined in marriage July 12, 1953, to Joyce Peters.
Charles could have been known as the last of the crooners. He was quite the singer and would break out with a Tony Bennett song any time he was asked. Charles was an aerospace engineer and designed parts for the Apollo spacecrafts. He loved to fish, bowl, play bridge, garden, and coach his boys in baseball. Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Willis; and sister, Carolyn Nichols.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joyce Willis; daughter, Susan (Earl) Burr of Hollister, Missouri; two sons: Scott (Lori) Willis of Santa Clarita, California and David Willis of Ventura, California; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, John (Sharon) Willis of Murphy, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Willis of Grenada Hills, California.
