A man from Missouri has passed away after a traffic crash that occurred earlier this month near the Newton County Fairgrounds in Jasper.
According to the fatality report posted by the Arkansas State Police, Gary Richard Barthels from the St. Louis area had been injured on May 18 when his motorcycle crossed the centerline on Arkansas State Highway 7 and collided with a car. Barthels was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield where he later died. Two people in the car, both from Arkansas, were taken to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
