Vehicle Pursuit Involving Under-Age Driver Ends in Harrison

An underaged driver leaves his home in Marion County and drives with a passenger to Boone County.

The incident was mentioned during Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy's report at last week's Harrison City Council Meeting. Chief Graddy stated that they had been informed by the Boone County Sheriff's Department that they were involved with a pursuit while a citizen had called law enforcement around the same time stating reporting a car was being driven poorly with a child appearing to be behind the wheel. The vehicle was reported to be going 85 MPH at times.

Graddy added that Harrison officers eventually spotted the vehicle on Highway 65 at the intersection with Prospect. They were able to surround the vehicle and end the pursuit. Upon investigation, officers discovered that the car was being driven by an 8-year-old from Pyatt with his 6-year-old brother also in the vehicle. Graddy said that Marion County Law Enforcement is investigating the incident since it started  in their county with possible charges to be filed.
