Valley Springs schools are following CDC guidelines for vaccinations and masks but allow for personal choice.
Dr. Kyle Mallett is the Superintendent of Valley Springs School District. Mallett spoke with KHOZ’s Around The Table on Friday about the school year and COVID-19. “We’re having school. Kids are in class; kids are laughing. You can just hear education coming out of the classrooms; I’m always walking around,” Mallett said.
He said that they have “extremely low” COVID-19 numbers. After talking with the Board and community members, it was decided that “if you choose to wear a mask that’s great, but if you don’t that’s also your decision as well.” Mallett added that guidelines are being followed but they make clear the path if one chooses to mask, be vaccinated or not. “Open and honest is the way we chose to go and personal choice,” he said.
Later, Mallett discussed other matters related to school. The full interview with Mallett is on Around The Table’s Facebook Page.
