Two juveniles in Harrison have been arrested and charge for possessing firearms, theft of property and breaking and entering.

According to the Harrison Police Department, two juveniles have been arrested and charged after a tip from confidential informant. The charges stem from incidents linked to a series of recent vehicle and residential break-ins. In addition, another juvenile was later arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Harrison Police officers coordinated with officers from the 14th District Judicial Juvenile Probation Office who advised at least one of the juveniles was currently on active supervised probation for a previous conviction. They went to the residence of the juvenile probationer where they encountered a second male juvenile suspect who had three stolen handguns in his backpack. An additional three stolen handguns were located in the bedroom of the first juvenile, who was not home at the time officers arrived.

The first juvenile was informed by another person Probation and Police officers were looking for him. He communicated to another person he was going to steal a car and get away. Once these messages were intercepted, officers set up surveillance on a residence they believed the suspect would come to. On this same day he arrived at this residence and was arrested. During the arrest, a handgun was found in his backpack.

During the interviews, it was discovered the juveniles targeted vehicles and houses left unlocked. It appears all of the recovered stolen handguns were taken from unlocked vehicles.

The third juvenile, who was in the stolen car at the time of the arrest, was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. He is not believed to be involved in the other break-ins and thefts.

The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents at the discretion of the Juvenile Probation authorities.

The investigation is ongoing as the Harrison Police Department attempts to locate the owners of some of the firearms and look into another person of interest.

Additional charges are pending for Residential Burglary and Theft of Property.
