Study ranks Missouri, Arkansas bottom 10 in opportunities for women

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.  – A recent study found both Missouri and Arkansas in the bottom 10 of 50 states and the District of Columbia in opportunities for women.

The consumer finance site WalletHub ranked Missouri 42 out of 51 and Arkansas 49 out of 51 in their 2025 study.

Both Missouri (41) and Arkansas (46) ranked low in women’s economic and social well-being rank, but Arkansas was at the absolute bottom in the women’s health care and safety ranking, with Missouri ranking 40th.

Missouri scored the lowest in women’s life expectancy at birth and women’s preventive health care, ranking 36th in both categories. Missouri also scored below average in female uninsured rate (31), share of women in poverty (27) and quality of women’s hospitals (29).

Arkansas tied for the worst rate of female homicides with Wyoming, Oklahoma and Alaska and scored a zero with abortion policies and access with figures from the Guttmacher Institute due to its complete prohibition, contributing to Arkansas’ last place score in women’s health care and safety.
