Storm Assistance From Local Group, SBA

An update on financial assistance available for victims of recent tornado.

The charitable organization Hearts and Homes of Arkansas is teaming up with a local group to help folks apply for assistance after recent storms that have hit the state.

Hearts and Homes and the Realtors Relief Foundation through the Harrison District Board of Realtors is accepting applications for assistance today and Thursday at the Bellefonte Church of Christ from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days. Applicants may be approved for up to $2000 in assistant that can be used for house payments, rent, or hotel rooms for those needing help during recovery and rebuilding.

Meanwhile, many area agencies remind tornado victims that the Small Business Administration wants to assist citizens with the SBA disaster loan program.

According to an online post, there is no cost to apply and no obligation to take a loan if approved. There is no repayment for the first 12 months, and interest does accrue after one year at the rate of 2.668% for homeowners and renters and as low as 4% for businesses and as low as 3.25% for nonprofit organizations. Visit sba.gov/disaster for more information.
