The search for a woman reported missing in the Hawksbill Craig area of the Ozark National Forest in Newton County continues Wednesday.
The woman, Theresa Beshara-Cox, was reported missing Monday when she didn’t return from a hiking trip.
The Buffalo National River issued a statement Tuesday evening saying Behshara-Cox was supposed to start her hike at 5:30 Monday morning. When she hadn’t returned, search efforts started Monday evening. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is working with the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Harrison Fire Department, Mennonite Disaster Service and volunteers to search the steep and rugged terrain.
Anyone who would like to volunteer in the search is asked the contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at 870-446-5124.
