A second ribbon cutting of Friday to welcome Creative Lifestyle Art Gallery and Gifts.
Friday afternoon saw the second of two ribbon cuttings hosted by the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce. Creative Style Art Gallery & Gifts has been on the Harrison Square since May and owners Candra and Jason Hutcheson say they have been very pleased with their downtown location.
The gallery offers portraits, landscapes, crafts, and more from many different artists. Some come from out of town but many of the artists are local and several were in attendance at the ceremony.
Candra has been doing photography for about five years and says she wanted a place to display her work as well as invite other artists to display theirs. She said, “We love being on the square, we love the vibe of the square. We have a lot of really neat, unique businesses down here and it’s growing.”
Mayor Jerry Jackson was on hand and said, “One of the commitments we’re going to make to you, the City of Harrison is going to do their best, we’re going to bring thousands of people to the square in about a year and a half. All that excitement is going to start just two blocks away.” Jackson was speaking about the coming Creekside Community Center on South Pine Street. He said he personally commits to getting the community center visitors to the square.
Chamber President and CEO Bob Largent added, “On behalf of the entire community, guys, Jason, Candra, we’re so happy to have you down here.”
Candra says that while they have had a lot of local traffic they have also been surprised how many tourists have visited the gallery as well.
You can visit Creative Lifestyle Art Gallery and Gifts at 108 North Willow Street on the Downtown Historic Harrison Square.
