Record Temperatures Broken, Tied on Christmas, Warm Conditions to end on Sunday

Christmas Day saw record high temperatures either set or tied as the warm holiday season continues.

The National Weather Service temperatures readings for Christmas Day saw a 136-year record fall in Springfield as the high reached 77, breaking the record of 74 set back in 1889. Ozarks First reports a sample of high temperatures in the region including in Harrison, which tied their record of 78 set in 2021. 

Some areas of the Lakes Region even got warmer. Storm Dar Weather in Branson reported a temperature of 80 Christmas Day.

The record warmth will continue today and Saturday before a front will drop temperatures quickly during the day on Sunday with Monday's high currently forecast for around 32. Some rain and a slight chance of severe thunderstorms will accompany the passage of the front Sunday.
