Leslie Wright has performed since childhood and still does music in addition to teaching the art.
Wright appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" segment "Person of Interest" to talk about her history of performing. She began by singing at basketball games while she was in school.
Her dad has a history of performing in a soft rock bad, and her mom has a good musical ear. Wright's time in the spotlight began in pageants in which she sang.
Eventually, tired of pageants, Wright focused on singing. She performed in a talent show at five years of age and was then hired to do a music show in Eureka Springs three nights a week at age six. Wright highlighted the support of her mom.
Her mom wasn't a "stage mom," but totally supported her. Wright recalled that her mother would take her to shows at times six nights a week. Saturdays were occupied by two shows.
She and her mom would go to the arcade between shows. Her mom even went with her when the show went on tour during winter. Wright shared a heartfelt reflection.
Her mom made a lot of sacrifices to enable her daughter to enjoy her passion and didn't do much for herself. More was discussed during the broadcast.
The full interview with Wright is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
