A Newton County woman has succumbed to her injuries from a two-vehicle accident October 24 in Searcy County.
Forty-eight-year-old Laveta Wofford of Vendor was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Forty-eight-year-old Ronald Wofford of Vendor and 61-year-old Susan Benefiel of Heber Springs were also injured and transported to Mercy Hospital.
According to a report from the Arkansas State Police, Laveta Wofford was the driver of a vehicle traveling on U.S. Highway 65 in Leslie, and Ronald Wofford was her passenger. Benefiel was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the other direction. The Woffords’ vehicle reportedly traveled left of center. The other vehicle began to skid and leave the roadway on the right side. The Woffords’ vehicle struck the left front of the vehicle Benefiel was occupying.
The unidentified driver of the vehicle Benefiel was in was not injured.
