NARMC has Full Laboratory and Wants Blood Donations

North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC) has a full laboratory, according to Rachel Mullins, NARMC's director of laboratory services.

Mullins appeared with Kim Rosson on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Wednesday to discuss the lab and related happenings. Mullins said the fact that the medical center has a full lab is uncommon for one its size. The team conducted close to 850,000 tests in 2024.

Tests are analyzed in-house. Local providers outside NARMC also use the services NARMC's lab offers. Tests that NARMC can't analyze are taken to Quest.

Mullins highlighted other services the laboratory provides:

  • Full blood bank
  • Full micro-lab
  • Chemistry
  • Red and white blood cell count examination

Later, she said that the hospital will host CBCO blood drive events on May 22 and July 17. They will run from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, the NARMC will host two events at the medical plaza on June 10 and Aug. 15. Mullins said the June event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A time isn't yet set for the August event. As a sidenote, Rosson and Mullins both said the plaza offers lab services. While the hospital handles lab work 24-hours-a-day, the plaza's lab is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The plaza, Mullins said offers good parking, the convenience of walk-ins, focused care away from sick patients and service no matter where one's primary care physician is located. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Mullins and Rosson is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
