Missouri ranks #2, Arkansas #15, in study of states where mortgage rates rose most

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The average interest rate on mortgages has been increasing across the country, and in the first two quarters of 2024, Missouri saw some of the largest changes.

According to a new report from WalletHub, Missouri’s average mortgage rate in the second quarter of 2024 was 6.3%, a 3.12% increase over the year’s first quarter. Arkansas ranked 15th on the list, with a 1.68% jump.

While Missouri saw the second-largest increase in rates, the state’s rates were still 1.8% less than that of Colorado, which ranked number one and experienced a 4.9% rate increase.
