Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson uses his time for the annual "State of the City" address to look ahead to 2025.

Jackson, who presented the speech during last week's City Council Meeting, said while much has been accomplished in 2024, he wanted to focus on goals for the coming year.

Those goals include:

Police Department
Jackson said the city will continue work on the new Animal Control Facility as well as adding more cameras to other area of the city to better monitor. Jackson added that Harrison will be hosting a National Law Enforcement Leadership meeting at Creekside Community Center this year.

Accounting
Jackson said the city will be installing new software that will help city officials to determine if water customers have leaks and that they can be notified quicker to get those issues fixed. Jackson said the city will continue to see a high amount of money in the reserve fund, which currently sits at over a six-month reserve.

Parks and Recreation
Jackson said continuing to grow membership at Creekside is important as well as the development with Explore Harrison on the Creekside Amphitheater and the partnership with Rotary on new Pickleball Courts. Jackson also talked about the revenue increases that Creekside is bringing to town with tournaments as well as the continuing construction of the Creekside Trail.

Fire Department
Jackson credited the Fire Department for maintaining their ISO 2 Rating which helps with insurance premiums but also pointed out that is an ongoing process to maintain. In addition, Jackson said the Fire Department is going to pursue the upgrading of outdoor sirens in the city.

Jackson added that the cooperation of all involved, the City Administration and Council, the Harrison Chamber and Explore Harrison, Harrison Public Schools, North Arkansas College, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, and others has helped Harrison prosper of the last six years of his time in office.
