An area man was killed in a boating accident during the weekend on Lake Dardanelle.
The body of 42-year-old Charles Baker Jr. of Marshall was recovered Saturday by the Pope County Office of Emergency Management and pronounced dead by the county coroner.
According to an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission spokesperson, Baker was the lone occupant of a mud motor-driven boat. Witnesses state they later observed him struggling in the water. A safety lanyard was reportedly attached, but there was no personal flotation device available.
It’s unclear if the accident was caused by a fall overboard or a collision with another object. The Game and Fish spokesperson says the county coroner will be conducting a blood draw on Baker’s body.2
