Over 1600 voters cast ballots in the Special Election in Marion County which concluded Tuesday with the majority of voters deciding not to replace the current Law Enforcement Tax with a new one next year.
The results released Tuesday by the Marion County Election Commission reported that 1244 voters cast a ballot against the replacement Sales Tax while only 397 were in favor.
The original one half of one percent Sales Tax was passed in 2016 which was dedicated to the construction of the Law Enforcement Center in Yellville. The replacement tax would have continued to support future law enforcement projects. The current tax will expire next year at the end of March.
