Main Break Shutdown Streets, Injures Two in Downtown Branson

An accident at the Construction Site of the Downtown Streetscape Project has injured two workers and caused a water shutoff at the Branson Convention Center and other area businesses.

Branson Communications Director Mariya Serykh has confirmed to Ozarks First that two people are in critical condition after the water main line break. Reporting from the Branson Tri-Lakes News indicates that the break took place at Main and Sycamore Streets. The city had closed that intersection Wednesday night as the next phase of the Downtown Streetscape Project.

Emergency Water Main Break – Downtown Branson
Thursday, August 21, 2025 – 3:30 PM
This afternoon, while performing work downtown, the contractor damaged a water main. At this time, there is no established timeline for full water restoration.
Due to the nature of the break, several factors are contributing to the delay. Multiple crews are actively working on site to isolate the issue and minimize the outage.
The attached map highlights the areas currently without water service. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience as we work to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
