Locals Collaborate on “Farmer Jack and the Never Ending Puzzle

Three locals are teaming up to bring an educational children’s book to life.

Stephanie Benton, Brynlee King, and Brandy Mincer appeared on KHOZ’s *Around The Table* on Tuesday to discuss their upcoming project, *Farmer Jack and the Never Ending Puzzle*.

Benton, who teaches eighth-grade literacy at Harrison Middle School, said her class has studies where food comes from as part of a nine-week unit. Students are required to complete a project that explores how community members can promote healthy food choices or improve the environment.

King, one of Benton’s students, said she was writing an essay and trying to learn more about Boone County farmers — but found little available information. That challenge inspired a solution.

King and another classmate partnered with Mincer, a local author, to create a story about Billy Jack Burns and his family — a book designed to be both engaging and educational.

Mincer said the book is currently in the illustration phase and is expected to be ready for readers by the end of January. Benton added that the project is funded by the Harrison Schools Foundation.

More details were discussed during the broadcast. Additional information about the interview and the project is online.

The full interview with King, Mincer, and Benton is available on the *Around The Table* Facebook page.
