
Hope Cottages plans to kick off Playground Project 2025 on Aug. 1, seeking to reinforce child safety and complete construction by September, according to Shirley McCutcheon.
McCutcheon appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the event. The facility has one playground and another one at the back of the building. That one needs a privacy fence. She said the fence would be constructed using panels in sections. Three gates are also expected.
The total cost of the project, she McCutcheon said, is about $19,920. The goal, of course, is to keep the children safe. McCutcheon said the faith-based nonprofit will accept donations, or supporters can purchase a panel in memory of a loved one.
McCutcheon said anyone wanting to purchase a memorial panel can do so for $1,000. She added that those names will go on bronze plaques.
Hope Cottages is a homeless women's and children's shelter in Harrison. McCutcheon said the shelter which now gives shelter to 20 kids and women.
