Hope Cottages July Fundraiser

Hope Cottages has a fundraiser on July 17.

Founder Shirley McCutcheon and volunteer Lacey Shirley from Hope Cottages appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss that and more.

The fundraiser, Build the Pillars, aims to gather money to fix the chapel's pillars. It will run from 11:30 and is expected to end at 12:40; it will happen at the Signature Community Bank (formerly the Duran Center). The building is over 100 years old. The current pillars are falling apart.

The money will also go toward replacing the air conditioners and more. Attendees will enjoy entertainment and lunch; it's mainly for businesses, but individuals are welcome.

Hope Cottages provides homeless mothers, expecting mothers and their children a place to live. The gated living space gives seven women a place to stay. Residents normally reside there for a year, but there are exceptions. The organization offers an approach that touches everything.

It's a holistic method designed to help residents transition into a life of independence. That involves getting an education, finding a home, obtaining health insurance and more.

Two spots are available for women who qualify. Applications are done online. More was discussed during the broadcast.

The full interview with McCutcheon and Shirley is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
