The complete release from the department is below:
Following a broadcast issued by Stone County Emergency Services regarding a missing juvenile, a newly appointed member of the Kimberling City Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program played a key role in the safe recovery of the individual.
While participating in a ride-along with a Kimberling City Police Department officer, VIPS member Kaylee heard the broadcast and immediately recognized the subject. Concerned for the juvenile’s safety, Kaylee notified the officer and initiated contact with the individual by phone.
A short time later, Kaylee located the juvenile in person and offered assistance. Stone County Sheriff’s Deputies, who were monitoring the juvenile’s last reported location based on witness information, observed the interaction and safely took the juvenile into custody without incident.
Kaylee is a senior at Reeds Spring High School and a participant in the GoCAPS program within the law enforcement strand. She has expressed aspirations of pursuing a career in law enforcement. Her awareness, initiative, and calm response exemplify the positive impact community volunteers can have when working alongside local law enforcement.
The Kimberling City Police Department commends Kaylee for her actions and remains committed to partnerships that enhance public safety and community well-being.
