Families are invited to the Harrison Round Up Club IPRA rodeo parade from Sept. 25. through Sept. 27, according to Mike Parkinson.
It starts at 4 p.m. on Sept. 25. Parkinson, First Presbyterian Church's Pastor Doug Cartwright and Ozark Share & Care Director Holly Carson appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about the upcoming rodeo. The rodeo raises money for Ozark Share & Care. Parkinson said that the organization got 730 pounds of food last year.
Donations, such as what the rodeo pulls in, are vital for Ozark Share & Care. Carson explained that donors like First Presbyterian Church and others help make it all possible. Ozark Share & Care distributes food via its food pantry.
That pantry is active on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Carson said the pantry gives out food to feed anywhere from 150 to 200 households. Share & Care's capacity to give as much as before has dropped.
She said it dropped from 30 to 40 pounds of food to 18 to 22 pounds. That decrease resulted from low donations and an increased cost of living.
Carson highlighted that while Share & Care feeds people with their own money, it takes donors to make food distribution greater than 20 pounds possible. Later, Carson dived into food insecurity. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview Cartwright, Carson and Parkinson is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
