Sisters Flowers and Gifts owner Sonja Bruce and Frenzy of Harrison Boutique owner Emily Powers talked on Wednesday about the upcoming Holiday Open House.
During KHOZ’s “Around The Table," Bruce said the event will begin with the city’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Nov. 6. The celebration will include singing by children and the Hillcrest Choir, and Mayor Jerry Jackson will cut the ribbon to officially get things moving.
The Holiday Open House will run through Nov. 9. Powers noted that the tree on the courthouse square will be a live one this year — something she said may be a first for the city. She added that it's mostly retail stores that will take part in the festivities.
According to Bruce, many businesses will also offer gift wrapping, and participants throughout the community — not just downtown — will join in by offering discounts. Powers listed several participating stores, including the NARMC Gift Shop, Visionary Day Spa, Missing Piece Boutique and ACE Hardware, among others. She said businesses have until early next week to sign up.
Both guests highlighted that food will also be available throughout the event.
More details were shared during the full interview. The full interview with Bruce and Powers is on the “Around The Table” Facebook page.
