Harrison City County Remembers Mayor's Wife

The Thursday Harrison City Council meeting started with a remembrance of the wife of Mayor Jerry Jackson.

Peggy Jackson passed away on Wednesday. Councilmember Wayne Cone, presiding for Mayor Jackson at Thursday's Council meeting, asked community members and friends to remember the Jackson family as they mourn their loss.

In City Business, the council approved a resolution to sell city owned properties on East Central and East Stephenson Streets. The two properties are unbuildable due to current FEMA Regulations and have been used by the adjacent landowners for parking for some time. The land is being purchased by the adjacent owners.

In addition, an update was held on the upgrading of Storm Sirens in the City. Fire Chief Marc Lowery outlined the progress that has been made in replacing sirens in phases to avoid a major onetime expense. He reported that all of the sirens are operating as they should and are all being controlled by Code Red System.

The complete meeting covered by Hometown TV can be found on the City of Harrison Facebook Page.
