
A former pastor of a Harrison Church pleads guilty to theft charges as part of a Plea Agreement filed this week.
According to court documents filed in Boone County Circuit Court on Monday, Brian Keith Herring admits to stealing around $525,000 from Faith Assembly of God Church in Harrison in 2021. In the agreement, Herring pleads guilty to theft of property and forgery charges while other charges filed in the case have been dropped.
According to the original probable cause affidavit, Herring was suspected by members of the church board of members of stealing money from the church while he was a pastor. During the investigation, Herring turned into electronic devices that belonged to the church that was believed to have contained information about Herring's financial dealings but had been erased prior to being returned.
Herring, who had served on the Harrison City Council for several years prior to prior to moving outside the city in 2017, has agreed to 17 years of probation, to pay $100,000 of restitution to the church, pay a $1,000 fine and do 800 hours of community service.
