Continuing Hot Temperatures results in the National Weather Service extending Excessive Heat Warnings in the region.
The weather service office in Springfield extends the warning through Friday evening for southern Missouri while the NWS offices in Little Rock and Tulsa extend the warnings through Thursday evening for northern Arkansas.
The continuing heat has also caused officials to alter starting times for outside High School Sporting events including this weekend’s opening of the Football Season. Area game times changed so far include Harrison’s Home game against Springdale on Friday to 7:30 with Reeds Spring’s Friday game at Monett now scheduled to start at 8:00. In addition, Hollister’s Saturday game at Cassville has been moved from 1:00 to 7:00.
Temperatures will begin to drop over the weekend with highs on Sunday back into the upper 80’s.
