Several local agencies assisted in the investigation that led to a man being sentenced to over 16 years in federal prison on distribution of child pornography.
24-year-old Seth Burns of Eureka Springs was handed down the sentence last week after his conviction of distributing child pornography. According to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office Western District of Arkansas, a Cyber Tip was submitted to a Homeland Security Investigations taskforce officer by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Burns admitted to the crime and was indicted by a Grand Jury in November of 2024 and entered a guilty plea on the charge in February of this year.
The police departments in Berryville, Eureka Springs, and Harrison all took part in the investigation according to the release. In an addendum to the release from the City of Harrison, Chief of Police Chris Graddy said, " Detective Ted Schaeffer performed extensive data analysis on this case, which resulted in an amazing conviction and sentencing. I'm very proud of the work our officers do."
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
