A local group will conduct a contest as part of the organizations national event.
The Harrison Elks Lodge #2311 will host a part of the Elks Hoop Shoot Contest on Saturday at the Alpena High School Gym at 1:00.
The contest is open to children ages 8 to 13. While the event is hosted by the Harrison Chapter, the contest is open to all youth in the region, not just students of the Harrison or Alpena School Districts according to the group’s website.
According to the Elks Contest Website, another area Hoop Shoot Competition conducted by the Holiday Island Elks Lodge #1042 is scheduled for Sunday at Eureka Springs Middle School.
The contests are part of a competition that will lead to a national finals event this April in Chicago.
