The second phase of the Main Street portion of the Downtown Streetscape Project is into the second month of work.

The project, originally scheduled for earlier this year but delayed due to securing a contractor, began in April with the west end of Main Street between Veterans Blvd. and Commercial Street being closed to repave the street and sidewalk and update infrastructure. That part of the project was finished in mid June.

Shortly after that, the east portion of Main between Commercial and Sycamore Streets was closed to traffic and is currently undergoing the same renovations.

As with the first part of the project, businesses are being impacted by the construction, Several business owners and operators spoke with Ozarks First for a recent feature story. One told reporter Parker Padgett that they are losing 25% of their revenue each week of construction.

In a statement sent to Ozarks First, the City of Branson says they recognize that the construction has short-term challenges but these improvements will lead to long-term success downtown.

The city also restates that the project should be completed no later than October 15.

The complete feature can be seen on the Ozarks First Website.
