While temperatures are cooling, a lack of rainfall to go with it has once again raised the drought levels for much of the Lakes Region.
According to the latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor, most of the Lakes Region including southern parts of Stone, Taney, and Ozark Counties have returned to a Moderate Drought Level while most of Barry County has returned to a Severe Drought Level.
Meanwhile in Arkansas, all or most of Boone, Carroll, Madison, Marion, Newton, and Searcy Counties are once again at a Severe Drought Level.
The levels indicate areas of water shortages either developing or already existing while some remaining crops are endangered as the growing season comes to a close.
Many areas have seen little or any rainfall for over a month. Parts of the Lakes Region may see some rain the middle of next week but most areas are forecast to remain dry over the next week.
