Map courtesy U.S. Drought Monitor

With little rain over the last week, most of the Lakes Region again find themselves in a drought area.

The latest map released Thursday by the U.S. Drought Monitor shows all of the Missouri Lakes Region either Abnormally Dry or at Moderate Level while the Arkansas Lakes Region has the same levels expect in most of Madison County and southwestern Newton County which is still not reported at a drought level.

According to the Drought Monitor, areas in drought will see crops and pasture losses as well as low stream flow. Officials also continue to warn of fire hazards in the region.

Thursday’s rain is the last that is currently in the forecast for the next week according to the National Weather Service.
