The Federal Emergency Management Agency continues to maintain Disaster Recovery Centers in two area counties after the Memorial Day Weekend Tornados.
According to information posted by both the Office of Boone County Judge Robert Hathaway and the Marion County Office of Emergency Management, the centers remain open at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Summit and at the Clifty Volunteer Fire Department Community Building in Huntsville.
According to the Boone County Facebook Post, residents in the county can contact one of those centers as well as centers in Baxter, Benton, and Fulton Counties for more information after the Boone County Center closed last week.
Meanwhile, an additional post from Marion County indicates that survivors in Marion along with Baxter, Boone, Fulton, and Madison Counties may qualify for Transitional Sheltering Assistance. The post says that FEMA will reach out to those that qualify through the information they received when those survivors registered with FEMA.
In a follow-up press release from FEMA, they announce the extension of the deadline to apply for assistance to August 28.
The recovery efforts continue after tornados that moved through Arkansas on May 26th, including the twister that struck Boone and Marion Counties killing three people.
