The Marion County Sheriff's Office is conducting their second death investigation this month.
According to a release from Sheriff Gregg Alexander, on Tuesday at approximately 8:30 pm, the Marion County Dispatch Center received a call regarding a deceased person at a residence on County Road 4006. Once on the scene, officers along with personnel from Baxter Health Ambulance found a 59-year-old female deceased inside the residence. The body of the victim was transferred to the Marion County Coroner's Office and will then go to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death while the investigation will also continue locally.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Earlier this month, a male was discovered unresponsive at a residence on County Road 6018. The victim, later identified as 74-year-old Michael Smyth, was determined to have died of natural causes.
