More information from the meeting can be read in the complete recap below:

The Parks Advisory Committee met for the monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7. A “Birthday Bash” is planned for Creekside members only on Friday, Oct. 24. A kid movie will be shown in the aquatics area, with lots of games and activities in the gyms. Refreshments will be provided, and everything is free. “This is our way of saying thanks to our community for our very successful first year with Creekside. We are excited to give back to our community,” Executive Director Chuck Eddington said.

Eddington said, “We have 5,184 members at Creekside now. We are also trying to get an additional seniors discount program to complement what we already offer.”

Eddington reported he held an in-service safety meeting for all Creekside staff members. “We talked about the case of a fire, a weapon, a lockdown, and medical emergencies. I went over all the details before the meeting with Police Sergeant Jake Mills and Fire Inspector John Morgan, to make sure we didn’t leave out any details. They were both good with the information we shared. We will often review these details and locations of AED machines as needed.”

CFO Luke Feighert said he had good news for the committee. “We actually had a surplus for the August financial. You may remember we were down in July, but we did have three payrolls that month.”

One of the committee members asked Feighert if he had any “bad news.”

“I guess the bad news is that we keep adding new stuff to Creekside. We have new cameras, lights, and water fountains at the tennis and pickleball courts. There is always something that comes up that we need for our community’s benefit,” Feighert said.

There is an extra aquatics chair lift that has never been used. It retails for $7,300. Another community needs one, and Feighert hopes to sell it to them with council approval Thursday night.

Eddington said the leagues are going great. “The 2026 event list has doubled and tripled from past years, and we still have activities to add,” he said. There are plans for two expos in January and February. We will partner with Valley Springs School District to host the “Hunting Legacy Outdoor Expo and Youth Bow Shoot” for Middle and High School students. Participants should total between 800 and 1,200 students. The Arkansas Game and Fish will be one of the vendors with a booth, and a big buck contest is also planned. The “What a Girl Wants” Expo is close to Valentine’s Day and already has 40 vendor booths booked with an expected 600 participants.
