
A total of seven charges have been filed in conjunction with a shooting in Newton County in January.
In press release issued in January by Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler, 39-year-old Kurt William Gronwaldt II came to a residence in Jasper and began acting very erratically, stabbing the wall of the residence with two knives, grabbing and discharging a shotgun and threatening to return to the house and burn it with the residents inside. Wheeler added that the homeowner shot Gronwaldt in self defense at which time he fled the scene.
Gronwaldt was later injured in a traffic crash and taken to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison and later to Cox South in Springfield for treatment. Groonwaldt was interviewed and taken into custody after being released from medical treatment.
Now according to court documents, a total of seven charges have been filed against Gronwaldt, including felonies for Possession of Firearms, a pair of counts for Terroristic Threatening, He is also is gong to face charges as a Habitual Offender.
Gronwaldt remains in the Newton County Jail on a $100,000 Bond.
