Charges Filed Against Harrison Man in Road Rage Incident

A man from Harrison is facing charges after a road rage incident in Carroll County.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit filed by the Arkansas State Police, 26-year-old Dawson Brereton is accused of causing a traffic crash on Highway 412 near Dry Fork on the morning of March 6. Carroll County Deputies handled the initial crash but called in the State Police when the officers on the scene reported the crash as being caused by road rage. 

Brereton admitted in a statement to officers that he had passed a vehicle then brake checked them. Brereton added that when the vehicle tried to pass him later, he swerved into the vehicle causing damage. The driver of the other vehicle and two passengers also gave statements which matched Brereton's according to court documents. 

A search of Brereton's vehicle resulted in the discovery of a pistol as well as a controlled substance and other paraphernalia. 

Brenton was arrested and later released on a $10,000 Bond with his next court appearance scheduled for next Monday. He faces three counts of Aggravated Assault, a count each of Criminal Mischief, Reckless Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
