The Carter Grace Foundation is preparing to serve free Thanksgiving meals again this year, according to Bob Brown, director of the nonprofit.
Brown discussed the event during an appearance Wednesday on KHOZ’s “Around The Table.” This year marks the fourth time the foundation has hosted the meal giveaway. The ready-to-eat meals will be served hot on Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. The location is 675 Highway 43 East at the Old Millbrook Complex. The service will be drive-thru only.
Brown said everyone is welcome and no one will be turned away. The meals are free. He noted that the foundation reserves the right to refuse requests for large numbers of meals when only one person is in a vehicle, but he emphasized that the intent is to meet legitimate needs.
The meals will include deep-fried turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, cranberry sauce and a roll. Each meal will also include eating utensils and napkins. Brown said the foundation hopes to serve 800 meals this year.
He said it is unclear if that goal will be met. Last year, the foundation served 700 meals in about 70 minutes.
The Carter Grace Foundation is privately funded and nonprofit. It serves people in and around Boone County throughout the year.
Anyone with questions can call Brown at 870-302-9354. More was discussed on the broadcast.
