Harrison High School will offer career coaching for another year, according to two coaches.
Kelly Regan and Ashley Massengale appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday to discuss the program. They are coaches for high school students, but the career coach position is connected to North Arkansas College. The career coaches also help eighth graders.
The need to offer the service is what sparked them to serve at the schools. While the counselors who work at the school often have to focus on mental health, these coaches offer another form of support.
The coaching position is funded by a grant from the state of Arkansas. The program is administrated by the college and has been active in Harrison for two years.
The coaches can provide assistance with scholarships, career guidance, and things like FAFSA.
The coaches will be available on Feb. 16 and Feb. 20 to help with FAFSA during the basketball games. Tickets to the games aren't needed to get help with FAFSA. More was discussed during the broadcast.
The full interview with Regan and Massengale is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
