Candidate for Arkansas Governor Ricky Dale Harrington Jr. on Economy, Marijuana and More

Candidate for Arkansas Governor Ricky Dale Harrington Jr. talked Monday the economy, marijuana and more.

Harrington Jr. spoke on KHOZ's "Around The Table" broadcast. He said one concern that's critical to many of his supporters is that of the economy. He said he takes a firm position on occupational licensing reform. "We need to be able to let people get out there and start their own businesses, cut some of this red tape that is blocking people who are competent from joining the workforce and offering services to the people," Harrington Jr. said. The candidate said this requires "tag-teamwork with the legislature" but added that the governor has authority over boards and commissions.

This is significant because, as Harrington Jr. said, those governing bodies "set the policies for those professional jobs and things like that." The candidate said he desires to "reduce government force" on small businesses. Harrington Jr. also voiced his opinion on recreational marijuana.

In regard to marijuana-related Issue 4, he said he wishes it didn't find a place on the ballot because "aligned with the principles of liberty" and because it sets up "state sanctioned monopolies." Harrington Jr. also mentioned unknown impacts that Issue 4 could have on industrial hemp.

Harrington Jr. discussed all of this and more on the broadcast. The interview with Harrington Jr. is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
