The head of a local group gearing up for another season of competitive mountain biking talks about the upcoming season.
Buffalo Riders is a team made up of riders from Boone, Newton, Searcy, and Marion Counties in grades 5th-12th. Team leader Kris Anderson stooped by KHOZ's "Around the Table" to discuss the team which is a part of the Arkansas NICA Interscholastic Cycling League. Anderson says although the league is competitive, the overriding goal is the get young people interested in cross country biking and interacting with other people to help improve social skills.
Anderson added that they also look to develop coaches for the sport. Those thoughts were echoed by Roni Combs, who heads a group within Buffalo Riders called GRIT (Girls Riding it Together).
The competitions will take place this summer with Anderson adding that Harrison has hosted and event the last couple of years but this year, the area event will be held in Mountain Home.
More information on the group can be found on the group's Facebook page the complete interview can be seen on the Around the Table Facebook Page.
