The National Park Service announces two projects beginning this week that will close some access to the Buffalo National River.
According to information from the NPS, the Lower Tyler Bend Access will close for renovations. The project includes relocation of a nearby restroom facility as well as a one-way loop connecting the entrance road to the parking area. NPS say that the access will be closed through the entirety of the project which will see the removal of current facilities beginning this week with construction of the new facilities to begin in November. Officials say that the Tyler Bend Campground and Upper Tyler Bend Access will remain open during construction.
The other project according to the NPS is at Steel Creek, where the access and campground will be closed through the rest of the month to replace a water line. The Steel Creek Road will be closed intermittently during work hours Monday through Thursday but will still be accessible outside of work hours while trails in the area will remain open. Officials project the work should be complete at the end of August.
