Boone County Library August Activities

The Boone County Library enters August with a lot happening.

Amy Griffith from the library appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about what's happening this month. While August is a busy month for the library, Griffith said programs will stop for the next two weeks. During that time, the drive-thru will close to allow for plumbing work.

With that said, the local library will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 2. Aside from that, the Friends of the Library are already gearing up for a book sale.

Griffith said the sale is at the Signature Tower on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5. She said this could be the group's biggest sale. The Oct. 5 sale allows shoppers to bring a bag and fill it for a dollar. She explained that the group supports the library.

Griffith coordinates the children's program. Story time is set to kick off again on Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. It's designed for kids from age zero to three. Toddle time is for the same age group on Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Teen activities and more will start on Tuesday. Teen events launch at 4 p.m. The library provides all supplies for teen and adult activities.

One of those activities is stress ball making on Aug. 20. Aug. 27 is trinket jar making. On Aug. 29, it's time to make a paper Lego person.

There's also an after-school program. It's every Thursday at 4 p.m. for kids ages six to 12.

The adult program will start on Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. with a basics class focusing on computer skills. All library activities are free.

Additional information is online. More was discussed on the broadcast.
