The Boone County Community Band has a free concert coming up.
Directors Robert Phelan and Wayne Root appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Wednesday to talk about it. The close to 50-member band will play on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Harrison High School will host the event in its performing arts center. The show will include three Christmas songs.
Phelan said he will also direct a Billy Joel song medley. Also, the concert will feature a march. Root will direct a piece called Christmas Lights and will later direct a Celtic piece.
Requirements to join: play an instrument and read music.
Phelan said the band, made up of mostly Arkansas residents and one Branson resident, takes summer off. It's active during the school year.
Phelan noted that handicap parking is located behind the gym. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview with Phelan and Root is on the "Around The Table" Facebook page.
