More information has been released on a case involving a Missouri Lakes Region man who has been charged with First-Degree Statutory Rape of an underaged female from out of state.
As released in early June, 39-year-old Jason Caton of Rockaway Beach is facing the charges after he admitted to transporting an underage female across the state line and having inappropriate relations with her. The probable cause affidavit said the incident in Rockaway Beach investigated by the Taney County Sheriff's Office occurred over a three-day period between May 30 and June 1 of this year. He is in the Taney County Jail on a $100,000 Bond with a Preliminary Hearing date set for July 30.
In other developments, the victim was identified as being from Arkansas and a relative of the victim, 63-year-old Mary Williams Close of Yellville is charged with one count of permitting child abuse. According to the probable cause affidavits in the case from a federal task force officer with the United States Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations posted by KTLO, Caton has claimed that he and the victim had inappropriate relations at both his house in Rockaway Beach and at the relative's house in Yellville though Close denies that saying the two only talked at her residence.
Close was arrested then later released from the Marion County Detention Center after posting a $15,000 Bond.
In an additional development, Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy in his report to the Harrison City Council last week mentioned that the minor involved in this case was actually a Boone County resident and that the Boone County Sheriff's Office and the Harrison Police Department were also a part of the investigation. Chief Graddy confirmed the information in the Homeland Security report that federal charges could be coming as a result of the investigation.
