William George “Bill” Hermann

William George “Bill” Hermann

William George “Bill” Hermann passed away on April 24, 2026, in Harrison, Arkansas, at the age of 85.

He was born on February 9, 1941, in Landshut, Germany. At the age of 9, he moved with his mother from Germany to Chicago. After graduating from high school, he attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering while also teaching classes at the Institute.

Bill later made his home in Florida, where he worked for NASA at Cape Canaveral and contributed his talents to an era of remarkable achievement and innovation. In 1981, he moved to Lead Hill, Arkansas, where he opened Arista Specialties. Through that business, he created a variety of wood products that were sold throughout southern Missouri.

He was a man of many interests and simple pleasures. Bill enjoyed woodworking, flower gardening, swimming at the Rec Plex, and caring for his cats. He especially valued time with family and friends and was known for being very social. He was the kind of person people turned to for help, advice, or research, and he was often a dependable go-to person when answers were needed. Those who knew him best will remember his wisdom, generosity, and practical nature, along with the steady kindness he showed to others.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Erica Logsdon and Crista Hermann, and by his grandchildren, Chase Logsdon and Anna Lyn Gaines. He also leaves behind many friends and acquaintances who were touched by his presence, his conversation, and his willingness to lend a hand.
